Join Me for 365 Skies in 2025 + Free Template

Looking to cultivate a sustainable, life-changing nature journaling habit while growing your watercolor skills? Set your eyes to the skies and let's paint daily watercolor windowscapes!

2025 will mark Year 3 of what began as a whim in 2022 and has evolved into a daily habit: painting the sky each day. As we head into a new year, I invite you to join me and get your head in the clouds by painting a small windowscape daily — or whenever suits you best.

Because most of my skies are painted indoors, I call them "windowscapes," but you can paint them anywhere you'd like — and call them whatever suits your fancy!

  • Each year, I tweak my format. During Year 1 (2023), I painted each week of skies on a single sheet of 9x12 paper.
  • During Year 2 (2024), I chose to paint each day's sky on a 3x3 piece of paper, and then tape the completed skies into a binder.
  • For Year 3 (2025), I will be painting 12 skies per spread of an A5 watercolor sketchbook (I'll need about two of these sketchbooks to get me through the full year). I have included a handy template below if you are interested in adopting this method.

New A5 template available

If you decide to try painting windowacapes, I encourage you to tailor it to what works best for you. There are no rules...the sky’s the limit! Whatever works for you is likely the best place to start.

Personally, for 2025, I'll be switching paper brands and sizes and have selected "The Perfect Sketchbook" by Etchr (size A5).

To make masking a quick task, I've developed a template with six skies per page. I will be painting mine to span each spread from left to right. If you'd like to try this format, here is the template:

Notes

Many of you have reached out to me over the past two years to share that you have also begun painting daily skies and I love seeing your work! If you share your skies on Instagram, please feel free to tag me @brookenoticed and I’ll do my best to follow along. Please note I might not see ever notification, but I do try.

Thank you so very much for your interest in this ongoing project and for all your support! It has been a labor of love and I am glad to have undertook it.
